Krispy Kreme Brings the Hot Doughnut Experience to Florence, Alabama
Florence, AL (January 19, 2004) - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) will officially turn on its signature "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign in the Shoals at 110 Cox Creek Parkway in Florence on Tuesday, January 27, at 5:30 a.m. The first 24 lobby customers will each receive a Krispy Kreme jersey numbered 1 through 24. The first lobby customer will win a year's supply of doughnuts (52 dozen!). The next 23 lobby customers will each win a dozen doughnuts a month for a year.
In addition, the first 100 customers will each receive a free limited edition Florence Krispy Kreme T-shirt and every customer will receive a free Hot Original Glazed doughnut on opening day. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Florence Mayor Dick Jordan, Police Chief Rick Singleton and Shoals Chamber of Commerce Chairman Tom Magazzu will participate.
"We're excited to be extending the Krispy Kreme hot doughnut experience to the Shoals for the first time," said Chad Bohannon, Krispy Kreme store manager. "And we look forward to becoming an active member of this community."
The Florence store will be open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Lobby service will be available Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to Midnight and on Friday and Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Drive-thru service will be available 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
The Florence Krispy Kreme store will feature the trademark "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign. When illuminated, the "Hot Light" announces to customers that the store is making hot, fresh Original Glazed doughnuts. Other features include convenient drive-thru service, lots of customer seating and a glass "doughnut theater" viewing area so customers can watch the doughnuts being made. The new Florence store will be about 4,500 square feet and employ a team of approximately 75 employees.
Krispy Kreme offers 15 varieties of doughnuts, including the signature Hot Original Glazed. To assure quality and consistency, Krispy Kreme produces its own doughnut mix and its own doughnut making equipment at the Krispy Kreme headquarters in Winston-Salem, NC.
The Florence store also will serve Krispy Kreme's new quality coffee line, which features three drip coffees-Smooth, Rich and Bold-along with a Robust Decaf, all made from high-quality coffee beans and roasted by Krispy Kreme's own Roastmaster to exact specifications. In addition, a line of espresso-based drinks, frozen beverages and milks prepared with a variety of proprietary flavors will be available. Among these flavors is "Original Kreme," which duplicates the flavor and aroma of Krispy Kreme's signature Hot Original Glazed doughnut.
