Melanie
Berry McCraney is the founder and President of McCraney
Communications. An established public relations practitioner
and corporate communications specialist, Melanie has
more than 20 years of experience in media management
and strategic communications.
Melanies PR focus includes media and community
relations, corporate communications, business-to-business
marketing, event planning and crisis management. Melanie
was an independent PR practitioner before founding McCraney
Communications in 2001. She began her communications
career in the newsroom as an award-winning radio news
executive. Melanies freelance work in broadcast
journalism includes reporting for NPRs "All
Things Considered" and "Morning Edition,"
The Associated Press Radio Network and others. As News
Director for top-rated stations, Melanie received numerous
Associated Press Broadcast Awards including "Best
Investigative Reporting," "Best Anchor,"
and " Best Newscast." She also served as a
Judge for the Edward R. Murrow Awards.
Melanie has served on the board of directors of the
Junior League of Birmingham, Childcare Resources, the
Alabama Ballet, Hand- In- Paw, Terrific New Theatre,
The YWCA and the YMCA. Melanie holds a B.S. in Communications
from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
John

As
Creative Director and Partner of McCraney Communications,
John Bagby works with the firm in all facets of strategic
planning, brand development and event management. He
has directed projects for Krispy Kreme, Consilium Forensic
Accounting, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey
Circus, Culinary Works and others. John managed the
Alabama leg of the XM Satellite Radio launch under the
direction of Paine PR.
John completed his M.A. from the University of Alabama
in 2001 with a concentration in Advertising and Public
Relations. As a graduate student, he was awarded a fellowship
to study with the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation
in New York and his campaign team was awarded the gold
medal for the prestigious ECHO award. John earned his
BA in English from the University of the South. He sits
on the Junior Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald
House.
