Melanie Berry McCraney launched McCraney Communications in 2000. A journalist at heart, Melanie is an award-winning PR practitioner and corporate communications specialist with more than 30 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, media management and strategic communications.
Melanie’s media career started in the newsroom. For more than a decade, she worked in broadcast journalism, reporting, anchoring, producing documentaries, hosting a talk show and managing news operations for Alabama’s leading National Public Radio affiliate which included filing stories for NPR’s All Things Considered and Morning Edition.
As News Director and Anchor for top-rated radio stations, she received numerous Associated Press Broadcast Awards including “Best Investigative Reporting,” “Best Anchor,” and ” Best Newscast.” She also served as a national Judge for the Edward R. Murrow Awards. Inside-out media knowledge plays a key role in media relations. It helps tremendously when it’s time to pitch story ideas to reporters and editors.
